SBL is aware that many of you find yourselves teaching online for the first time due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, and we are committed to addressing your most urgent needs. Be sure to read our new Teaching Biblical Studies Online weekly newsletters highlighting Bible Odyssey resources to support your virtual classrooms. Below is a list of external online resources* to assist you during this difficult transition. SBL will continue to add to this list in the coming days. If you are familiar with any online resources that might assist your fellow members or if you would be willing to answer questions about online teaching your colleagues might have, please contact us at sblpressp@sbl-site.org.
As you transition to online teaching and conducting your research remotely, remember that many publishers, including SBL Press, have e-books available for faculty and student use through your institutional library. Check your on-line catalog or contact your librarian to inquire about access to e-books through EBSCO, JSTOR, ProQuest, and other platforms.
SBL Press titles can be purchased for individual use from Google Play and Amazon, and open-access volumes in the Ancient Near East Monographs and International Voices in Biblical Studies series are available for download.
Your university will likely have resources and staff expertise to help you transition to a virtual classroom. Be sure to take advantage of them. SBL will continue to monitor the situation as we work on a larger plan to address member needs in this area.
